To get the job done, you obviously need to have the proper tools and techniques. You need to keep in mind that patience is really a virtue if you are on the process of taping drywall. It’s time consuming and you have to keep in mind that this involves a detailed process. In fact, taping the drywall seams can even take 3 times as long as it takes to hand the drywall.

You have to know how to tape drywall properly because without following the correct process, you will eventually get an unattractive and unprofessional finish. So, here are some instructions on how to complete this kind of project properly in order for you to have great results on the finished taping drywall project.

First, you have to have the right tools for the job. You need to understand the fact that knowing how to tape drywall and having the right tools is half the battle. Although it is possible for you to get the job done without having all the right tools, it may take a lot longer to finish the project than usual.

To tape drywall, you will need a drywall tape, joint compound, and also a good sized drywall knife. You will also need coarse and fine grit sandpaper in order for you to finish the job. Having these tools will make your project a lot easier and it will also help you produce a more professional look.

Taping drywall involves knowing the entire process involved in finishing drywalls. It is important for you to understand this process because it will affect the way the finished project look.

Before applying the tape, you first need to apply drywall joint compound on each joint. You may want to apply three layers of the compound and after each layer you have to let it dry completely. Then, sand it and repeat the process three times.

After applying the last layer of joint compound, the next step is to tape the joints.

You have to tape the joints between each sheet of drywall. Then, you have to fill it with drywall compound. After applying the tape is applied, you now have to smooth the drywall compound by using a caulking knife.

Lastly, you have to dry the compound completely and you have to sand it with coarse grit sandpaper first and then the fine grit sandpaper for a smooth and polished look.

These are the proper ways on how to tape drywall. Although it may seem simple, you will find that taping drywall can take some time and patience. With these tips, you can be sure that you will be able to have the necessary knowledge that will give you a more professional look upon finishing the project.
