A great way to dry off in your home bathroom. On
his page about sauna therapy he describes how to use two 270 Watt
infrared light bulbs to build an infrared sauna. You will need two 270
Watt infrared bulbs (not clear heat, as he writes that they have wrong
spectrum). Also you will need three ceramic or plastic lamp sockets for
the bulbs, fifteen feet of heavy lamp cord, medium duty male wall plug
and a switch, or better, timer-switch which is capable to handle seven
amps current.
Once you decide what type of heater you want,
you need to decide if you want a permanent installation or a portable
setup. If you decide on a permanent installation, you may want to
purchase a bathroom fan and heater combo unit. These units replace your
standard bathroom exhaust fan and provide you with heat. Portable
bathroom heaters plug into your electrical outlet and they can sit on
your counter top or your floor. You can also usually mount a portable
bathroom heater with a little extra effort and some units include a
mounting kit to help you out with this. Portable units are great for
renters or those who only want to use the heaters when the temperature
dips down.
Regardless of which type of heater you decide
on, remember to follow standard safety procedures during installation to
prevent injury from electrical shock. For instance, if your new bathroom
heater has an electrical plug with three prongs but your bathroom socket
only has two holes, do not break off the third prong. The third prong
grounds the unit and helps prevent you from being shocked. If you have a
two prong outlet in your bathroom, you can find a suitable heater
without having to butcher the electrical cord, just make sure to read
the specs on the product or call the company before you buy.
In this tough economy we are all looking for
ways to save money. By changing the way we heat our homes, it is
possible to notice significant savings in our energy budgets. In
addition to saving money, you will be doing your part to save the
environment as well. Clean, infrared heat does not produce the harmful
emissions of gas and oil heating systems. Give an energy and money
saving infrared heater a try. You will love the cozy warmth and the
great savings it provides!
